Ms. Suelzer is a professional counselor whose passion is helping those diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety, and personality disorders to regulate emotions and to identify and replace negative distortions. In working with high-risk individuals, Ms. Suelzer realized that many illnesses, including substance abuse disorders, are rooted in trauma. She now applies a trauma lens to the therapeutic process. She also is a strong advocate for all counselors to understand the proper use of medications in treatment and to prepare them to educate their clients and advocate for them. She’s conducted CLE trainings on Suicide Assessment and Treatment Planning and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury, as well as given multiple presentations to community groups and nonprofits on Suicide Prevention. She’s a member of the American Counseling Association, American Association of Suicidology, and the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
