Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) is an evangelical learning community united around the gospel of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We exist to prepare men and women for service to the global church in many vocational contexts, such as counseling, academic teaching and writing, pastoral leadership, and missional service in an increasingly diverse set of circumstances. Coursework is available on our Deerfield campus, online, and at various Extension sites in the Midwestern United States.
Our Dean, Tite Tiénou, tells new students every semester that TEDS is “pan-evangelical” – we embrace all evangelicals, of every variation. Our unity in the Gospel makes possible a commitment to a broad evangelicalism that welcomes voices from various denominational and theological traditions. We believe “evangelical” ought to be defined first and foremost in theological terms (rather than socio-political or cultural terms), which is why we emphasize Gospel-centeredness and the authority / inerrancy of Scripture. Our faculty combine care for their students with excellence in evangelical scholarship and a commitment to serving the local church in many national and international contexts.
These emphases—Gospel centrality, inerrant Scripture, excellent evangelical scholarship that truly engages culture, and service to the Church—have continually defined the TEDS community since its formal inception over fifty years ago.
