    Federal Direct Loan

    Eligibility Criteria The Federal William D. Ford Direct Loan is a low-interest loan that students take out on their own behalf. The FAFSA must be completed in order to be eligible. The interest rate is fixed at 5.41%. This program allows students to borrow loan funds directly from the Federal Government, including both Direct Loans and Direct Graduate PLUS loans. Repayment begins 6 months after graduation or if the student drops below half time. The Federal Government requires all new, first-time loan borrowers to complete Loan Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note online.

    Eligibility Criteria The Federal Carl D. Perkins Loan is a low-interest loan that students take out on their own behalf. The FAFSA must be completed in order to be eligible. The interest rate is fixed at 5 percent. Trinity determines eligibility. Repayment begins 9 months after graduation or if the student drops below part time. **Tuition discount percentage for Masters-level scholarships and grants is based on 10 credit hours (charged at the regular full-time rate) per semester (Fall and Spring). Tuition for Master’s level classes is $620/credit hour. Distance Education and Extension site courses are charged at a reduced rate, thus these courses cannot be combined with regularly priced courses to establish TIU scholarship eligibility.
** Students on the Deerfield campus who are enrolled in the Certificate of Christian Studies Program are not eligible to receive federal Direct Unsubsidized or GradPLUS loans.  However, such students may be eligible to receive TIU scholarships and are encouraged to complete the TIU Financial Aid Application.
** Distance Education and Extension site courses are charged at a reduced rate, thus Extension and Distance Education students do not qualify for TIU Scholarships. However, Distance Education and Extension site students may qualify for Direct Student Loans or private student loans if enrolled as a degree seeking student, at a minimum of half-time status, and meet all federal requirements for Direct Student Loans.
**Tuition discount percentage for PhD-level scholarships and grants is based on 9 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). Tuition for PhD-level classes is $715/credit hour.
**Trinity scholarships, grants, and rebates are not ordinarily available in the Summer semester. Please review the Summer Financial Aid Application for exceptions.
